ERBIL,— Explosive-laden drones struck three oil facilities in Iraqi Kurdistan Region on Wednesday, temporarily halting output at two fields operated by Norwegian energy firm DNO ASA, regional officials said.
The attacks took place in Duhok province, beginning at 6:00 a.m. local time, when drones hit the Peshkabir field. Another drone struck the nearby Tawke field around 7:00 a.m., according to the Kurdistan Region’s counterterrorism department.
DNO stated that production at both fields has been suspended. The company reported damage to surface processing equipment at Peshkabir and a storage tank at Tawke.
A third drone struck a separate oil site operated by U.S.-based Hunt Oil at 7:14 a.m., also in Duhok province. No injuries or damage were reported in that incident.
“These repeated attacks are deliberate sabotage,” the Kurdish Ministry of Natural Resources in Erbil said in a statement, describing the events as acts of “terror.”
No group has claimed responsibility. However, Kurdish-affiliated political figures have accused Hashed al-Shaabi, a coalition of pro-Iranian Shiite militias, of involvement — though no evidence has been provided to support the allegation.

On Tuesday, a similar strike forced the suspension of operations at the Sarsang oil field, operated by another U.S. company, HKN Energy.
On Monday, two drones targeted the Khurmala oil site, while another was intercepted near Erbil’s airport.
In total, five oil fields have been targeted in a span of seven days, amid ongoing disputes between Erbil and Baghdad over control of oil exports.
The federal government in Baghdad has pledged to investigate the series of drone incidents. Export of Kurdish oil flows via a key pipeline to Turkey have remained suspended since 2023 due to unresolved legal disputes and technical setbacks.
Some analysts suggest the recent wave of drone strikes may be tied to Iran’s efforts to retaliate against Kurdish authorities, whom Tehran has accused of aiding Israeli operations inside Iran this past June.
