About iKurd News
Welcome to iKurd News, an independent, non-profit political journal committed to delivering accurate, neutral, and trustworthy reporting as events unfold. Our mission is to bring you the hard-hitting stories that challenge perspectives and encourage deeper engagement with the world. We are proud to be a platform that welcomes all voices and opinions.
Who We Are
iKurd News was established in September 2024 by a dedicated team of former journalists from Ekurd Daily, bringing over 20 years of experience in independent journalism. In May 2024, following the acquisition of Ekurd Daily by another Kurdish group from Erbil, we closely monitored the platform for several months. Unfortunately, the new ownership failed to uphold their promises to maintain the platform’s independence, trustworthiness, and journalistic integrity.
As time passed, Ekurd Daily became inactive and paralyzed, leaving the platform without updates for months. In the final weeks, the site was completely dead, silencing a crucial voice for independent news in the region. Faced with this alarming situation, we felt it was our duty to ensure that the only remaining gate to free speech was not closed. Out of this need, iKurd News was born—to continue the vital work of providing unbiased, accurate news that the people of Kurdistan and the world deserve.
We remain committed to providing an unbiased and objective platform that reports the news without influence from any external group or establishment.
Our Philosophy
At iKurd News, we believe in reporting the news as it happens, with honesty and transparency. We have no affiliations or obligations to any political party, organization, or government. Our goal is to promote freedom, democracy, and human rights in Kurdistan and around the world.
As a liberal news platform, we advocate for progressive values, individual liberties, and social justice, while upholding the principles of freedom of expression and thought. We strongly support full women’s rights, believing in equality, empowerment, and the dismantling of all forms of discrimination and oppression against women.
We also recognize the importance of religious freedom and respect all faiths, except those that advocate for violence or killing in the name of God. Our reporting reflects these core values, ensuring that our audience receives a fair and accurate portrayal of events.
