BAGHDAD,— Tunisia announced on Friday the removal of tourist visa requirements for Iraqis, a move that received a warm welcome from Baghdad.
According to a statement from the Tunisian foreign ministry, the country has waived the entry visa for holders of ordinary Iraqi passports for tourism purposes, allowing stays of up to 15 days, once every 180 days.
This policy, effective from June 15, 2024, requires visitors to have a confirmed hotel reservation and a return ticket.
The Iraqi foreign ministry praised the decision, attributing it to the discussions of an Iraqi-Tunisian committee led by Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and Tunisian Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar in Baghdad on May 12.
The decision aims to strengthen bilateral relations and promote tourism and commercial exchange between Iraq and Tunisia.
The Iraqi ministry expressed optimism that this will boost the number of Iraqi tourists visiting Tunisia and enhance economic and trade cooperation between the two nations.
Additionally, the Tunisian foreign ministry announced that, starting June 15, 2024, ordinary Iranian passport holders will also be exempt from entry visa requirements to Tunisia.
