Anti–ISIL Conference in London revealed the hegemony still life the realpolitik March 1916; “The Sykes-Picot Agreement.”

Omar Sindi, Washington — Exclusive to iKurd.net

There is an adage; in which it says if one is to get a job, it doesn’t matter how much that person knows about that job, and it matters who he knows. This proverb can be precisely implied to the Kurdish people. It is obvious, the terrorist ISIL/ISIS State in Iraq and Syria are threat to everybody, and Kurdish people putting up the bulk of the fight on the ground against ISIL/ISIS, the Kurds peshmerga forces have lost over thousands of people in fighting, many thousands injured, many of them chronically injured, have received over a million refugees; yet the Kurdish people reps, or their president were not invited to the anti-ISIL conference in London, therefore; President Masoud Barzani had every right to criticize this kind of unfair treatment, United States-led coalition against the Islamic States in Iraq and Syria.

The spokesperson for the United States Jen Psaki indicated in press conference “Kurds were not invited to London Conference because Abadi represents Iraq” This is a misapprehension approach to regional conflicts in particular in today’s Iraq, it is a very conspectus how so called an Iraqi state was patched at “The Sykes- Picot Agreement”; since 2003, Iraqi government under current political party (The Islamic Dawa Party) leaderships has intentionally delayed article 140, it is part of Iraqi constitution in which tackles Arabization issue on the Kurdish land, the Arabization policy which was implemented during the era of previous regimes , especially during the Baathist regime under the dreaded man Saddam Hussein, and his abettors. If the Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al- Abadi was sincere about Iraq on a coherent political system, he should’ve extended the invitation to the Kurds leadership to London Conference. Because Kurdistan Regional Government-KRG represents over five million people; since the fight started so called Islamic State, ISIS/ISIL, the Kurdish forces have been putting stiff resistance up with the terrorist state, and in accordance with KRG, and international media outlets that the government in Baghdad deliberately not providing the Kurds peshmerga forces with the weapons the that they should have received, in pursuant to the agreement in between all sides concern to the ISIS fight, however the ISIS has gained the ground in Iraq and Syria, only in the Kurdish Areas the Peshmerga forces in several fronts per se have beaten the ISIS back, and forced them to retreat.

In so many ways, this anti- ISIL Conference in London resemblance to Sept 30, 1938; when then the British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, along with Bento Mussolini, and French Premier Edouard Daladier singed the “Munich Pact” basically they handed Czechoslovakia to Adolf Helter –Germany, and upon return to England the Prime Minister Chamberlain said “peace our time” whilst it was very obvious to all concerned parties that Hitler and the Nazi party desire nothing less than the domination of the whole European Continent, perhaps the whole world. Not long ago, the Iraqi Vice President Nouri al–Maliki visited Basra, and said the decline of oil price, it is deliberate project against Russia and Iran, and most Shia’s political parties make no secrets that their desire to adjoin the perimeter from Persian Gulf to Mediterranean Sea, to role with theologian theocratic political system of a greater Shia’stan, and on the other hand, the notorious of Islamic State desire ISIL/ISIL nihilism, with their ambitions for bringing back the Islamic Khalifa Empire to the Middle East first, perhaps to all the Islamic worlds, and to eliminate those who with slightest criticism is seen as criminal sacrilege, with their desired version of Islam.

At the same time the most pro-Western people in this region are the Kurdish people, with a proven record of tolerances, to the other minorities and including political diversities, And on the other hand, the US-President Barack Obama enfeebles foreign policy (Doctrine) under reactive on many complexes global issues and different approach to global crises: For example, ongoing carnages in Syria, President Obama was asked how the US deal with Syria situation/civil war, he said doesn’t have policy in Syria; quickly inversed that statement has developed policy in Syria, the recent killing in Paris France by those Islamic terrorists, most of Western Democratic Leaders gathered in Paris to show their supports for the people of France and their government; only the US ambassador was in that gathering, after Obama was criticized, later on the US secretary of state John Kerry was dispatched to Paris to show the US support for the people of France; When Saudi’s King Abdullah death was pronounced in the media outlets, the US President was on scheduled trip to India, US officials indicated the Vice President Joe Bidden will attend to the King‘s funeral, but the US President changed the course, he wants to attend the King Abdullah‘s funeral. These kinds of obscure amalgamations of confusing statement to come out, the head of the most powerful nation – the US; therefore, there should be no surprise that the Kurds were not invited to anti-ISIL Conference in Loudon, despite the Kurds peshmerga forces putting up the stiff resistance to terrorist ISIL.

Since 1916 “The Sykes – Picot Agreement” afterward there are many international agreements have been abrogated and dismantled: In 1946, Winston Churchill said “that Russia had built an “Iron Curtain” separating Eastern Europe from Western Europe.” The “Iron Curtain” is gone. Former state of Yugoslavia had been dismantled, no longer those different ethnic minorities at each other’s throats. In South Africa, the apartheid system no longer exists, and the list goes on. The regional people didn’t approve of the “The Sykes-Picot Agreement”, specifically the Kurds were dismayed that their land had been divided among the other nations, in addition, they were disregarded as nation state to exist, ever since it has created political quagmire will, for this region. False promises “The Anglo-French declaration of November 1918,” that they will assist to form governments in Syria and Iraq from the indigenous people. In 2002, British foreign secretary Jack Straw indicated “A lot problems we have to deal with now, I have to deal with now, are a consequence of colonial past.” There are some political pundits and neo conservative’s historian who advocating of sustaining, “The Sykes- picot Agreement” their Arguments are based on, it will create more chaos in the regions, in my view this should be a baseless assertion. The perpetuity of “The Sykes- Picot Agreement” ever since it’s conception has created more chaos, more bloodshed, and political quagmire for all regional people. As for the Kurds, there is a very well-known motto; the Kurds have “no friend but mountains” as a Kurd, I would say our unity should be equal to the mountains, and it is far more important than double standard of the anti-ISIL Conference in London, Not Cantons!
