Donald Trump, will he be able to conduct a mass deportation or causes a mass chaos?

Serwan Zangana | Exclusive to iKurd.net

Since elected President Donald Trump has announced the mass deportation of the undocumented immigrants, there have been huge objections and condemnation from some immigrant advocacy groups and Democrats. The influx of illegal immigrants in the U.S has affected American communities in many areas.

This issue has become a factor and a tool for the politicians to use against each other for political purposes. In defense of open borders for people to enter the U.S without documentations or a legal authorization, the advocates claim that America is the nation of immigrants.

This statement is absolutely true. But the conflict begins when Republicans require immigrants to enter the country only through the proper channels while Democrats are less restrictive regarding implementing immigration and border security policies. And hence, this resulted in a belief that Democrats are immigration advocates, while Republicans, conversely, are anti-immigrants.

The illegal immigrants in the U.S are out of the authority’s control, and it is not as simple as to conduct a massive deportation and clear out all the undocumented from the county. Democrats have already vowed to stonewall Trump’s plan.

For nearly 4 years the Biden administration has loosened the border security and turned its face away from people who entered the country illegally. There is a higher number of encounters on the border of undocumented people trying to enter the country during the Biden Administration compared to Trump’s.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, Officer of Homeland Security Statistics, from February 2021 to October 2023, there were 6.5 million encounters.

Now, Trump’s Mass deportation plan has created fear among both undocumented and documented immigrants in the U.S. The public is wondering how this plan will be implemented and to which degree will be humane to undocumented families with U.S born children.

However, “In California, we’ve been thinking about the possibility of this day for months and in some cases, years, and been preparing and getting ready by looking at all of the actions Trump said he will take,” California Attorney General Rob Bonta said.

Obviously, Democrats will not retract what they have planned against Trump’s mass deportation policy. The Democrat Governor of Massachusetts, Maura Healey, is also prepared for the battle and said she will protect the citizens and the residents of her State with “every tool in the tool box” against Trump’s mass deportation plan and interdict state police from assisting Trump, ”absolutely not.” She said regarding the Police’s cooperation.

Indeed, Democrats will not be the only obstacle on Trump’s path, also some Republicans will have a red light on the road. Regardless of the majority Republicans in the House and Senate, it will not guarantee an easy ride and a paved road for Trump in his second term.

Congressman Tony Gonzales, R-San Antonio, believes that Trump’s Mass deportation plan is not practical. “If the message is, ‘We’re here to deport your abuelita,’[grandmother] that’s not going to work well. ” Gonzales said.

The immigration system in the U.S has been politicized by both the Republican and the Democratic Party to gain popularity and influence the voters. The political conflicts between the two Parties has complicated the immigration situation to the level that affected the legal process for those who are willing to enter the U.S legally.

For example, Congressman Chip Roy, R-Texas, posted on X, “ I can assure you I am not. It’s time for a freeze in legal immigration while we FULLY secure the border and mass deport the millions of illegal aliens…” This means a large number of people who are on a waiting list to enter and reside in the U.S legally will be pushed back and pay the price for those who broke the law! While the Biden-Harris Administration is blamed for an open border for illegal immigrants to enter the U.S, Republicans like Congressman Roy will be blamed in case the legal immigration process was halted during Trump’s Administration.

However, Trump’s mass deportation plan will not be as simple as comprehending and deporting. As thousands of illegal immigrants of different countries have entered the U.S from Mexican border, the question is: Does the plan is to deport all the illegals to their countries of origin, or to Mexico? It is not clear how feasible such an operation will be, but in fact, regardless of its purpose, the mass deportation plan will cause contention in public and between the politicians.

In a brief interview with Congressman Ben Cline, R, Virginia, he said, “ …to ensure that people who are here illegally are removed from the country, but there is a way to prioritize any process so that those who are incarcerated, those who have committed crimes, those who are on terrorist watch list, those who are a danger are giving prioritization for deportation…” Also, regarding families, he said, “… we need to have conversations about those who are in families citizens either married or with children who are citizens because ultimately those going to be a challenging situation that are going have to be resolved.”

And regarding the undocumented immigrants who are contributing to the U.S and paying taxes and not depending on the government. Congressman Cline said, “ In terms of prioritization that they are not going to be looked to a first but eventually they will have to return to their countries of origin and pursue legal immigration process.” Congressman Cline believes that such a plan indeed will not be simple.

Trump has been stating in the past and during the election campaigns that he would declare a national emergency since day one of his Presidency and utilize the military to conduct the mass deportation. His focus has been on gangs, such as MS-13, and terrorist organizations members.

“We will get MS-13 the hell out of your communities.” Trump said in November 2, Salem, Virginia rally. However, Senator Rand Paul, R, Kentucky has a different opinion on military involvement in the deportation plan, “But you don’t do it with the army because it’s illegal.” Sent. Paul said.

The lack of security has enabled terrorist groups enter the U.S with no struggle. There are differing reports on how many people are on terrorist watch list entered the U.S, but in 2022, according to the FBI, 4 Iraqi nationals affiliated with Islamic State organization were arrested, as they were attempting to cross the border with a plan to kill former President George W. Bush.

However, between gangs and radical Muslims, Americans have been depleting and paying the higher cost for the broken border security, and perhaps, the negligence of the government, as well.

For example, according to National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, prior to 09/11 attack, the intelligence community was not organized and equipped to encounter the challenge posed by global terrorism groups focused on targets within America. Interestingly, according to Center of Maritime Strategy (2024), the hijackers’ names were familiar to the intelligence community prior to the 09/11 attack.

Now, Americans, both legal and illegal immigrants, and people across the world, including the terrorist organizations, are watching carefully while Trump is facing a tremendous challenge in the mass deportation plan.

And the final question is: Will Trump be able to implement a policy that repairs the border security to a certain degree, or instead of mass deportation he will cause a mass chaos?
