JERUSALEM,— The Israeli Defense Ministry announced on Thursday that it has signed a major contract with Boeing to purchase 25 advanced F-15 fighter jets, a deal valued at $5.2 billion.
The agreement, backed by U.S. aid approved earlier this year, provides Israel with the option to purchase an additional 25 jets in the future.
Under the contract, deliveries of the new F-15IA jets will begin in 2031, with Boeing providing 4 to 6 aircraft annually.
These state-of-the-art jets will be equipped with cutting-edge weapons systems compatible with Israel’s current arsenal, offering enhanced operational range and payload capabilities.
According to the Israeli Defense Ministry, these upgrades will help the Israeli Air Force maintain a strategic edge amid evolving security challenges in the Middle East.
Defense Ministry Director-General Eyal Zamir highlighted the significance of the purchase, stating it strengthens Israel’s air capabilities in the region.
“The new F-15 squadron, alongside a third F-35 squadron signed earlier this year, marks a historic boost in our air power—capabilities that have already proven essential in the current conflict,” Zamir said in a statement.
He also noted that Israel has secured close to $40 billion in defense agreements since the conflict in Gaza began on October 7, 2023. We’re meeting urgent demands for advanced weapons and ammunition while also committing to our long-term strategic strength,” he added.
This contract is another major win for Boeing in Israel’s defense and aviation sector. Earlier this year, the company secured a significant deal with El Al Israel Airlines, which agreed to purchase up to 31 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in a transaction valued at around $2.5 billion.
Boeing Israel’s President, Ido Nehushtan, emphasized the long-standing relationship between Boeing and Israel, which dates back to Israel’s founding, and pledged ongoing cooperation with both U.S. and Israeli governments to deliver the F-15IA jets through standard military procurement channels.
The expanded fleet will bolster Israel’s strategic air capabilities for years to come, ensuring the nation remains prepared to address future challenges with a modernized air force.
