How disgusting to see Kurds fight among themselves

Rizgar Khoshnaw | Exclusive to iKurd.net

I am absolutely dumbfounded by what I am reading nowadays about how much animosity and infighting going on between all Kurdish parties in Kurdistan.

We have three little tiny cities (Erbil, Sulaimani and Duhok) in Kurdistan and yet we have so many “leaders” that all speak to support/advance their own agenda and needs and do not show much care about their own citizens.

Yesterday, I read about two members (Mr. Barham Salih and Mrs. Hero Talabani) of the PUK threatening the KDP/Barzani to not ignore the city of Sulaimani, and its leaders, when declaring “independence”-as if that is really going to happen with all that is going on in our region! Furthermore, Mrs. Talabany, has warned Mr. Barzani not to support Turkey in any shape or way and she is against any agreement with the Turkish government. She is advocating that the Kurds must turn to Baghdad and not Turkey when trying to solve all internal problems.

News flash: Mr. Barzani will not be threatened, removed, overpowered, or persuaded to do something that the PUK leadership “demands” him to do when he does not want to do it!

It would seem like our Kurdish leaders are all on “different pages” when it comes to how to govern Kurdistan! This can not be good news for the future of Kurdistan.

And, as if Kurdistan does not have enough problems, Gorran party, and other Islamic parties, are pushing to form a new military wing to counter the KDP influence and to “protect” themselves from any harm, or physical threat, that will come from the KDP. Isn’t all that great!? So much hate and disagreement among those so called “leaders” that are vying for position, influence and power to satisfy their power huger needs.

This afternoon, I watched a program on a TV station in Kurdistan that hosted two members of Kurdistan Parliament (one from Gorran party and the other from the KDP) and they were going at each other’s throat like there is no tomorrow! Each one was accusing the other party of corruption and try to overthrow their own government.

I was amazed to see how bad this situation has become in Kurdistan and I honestly do not see how these two parties (Gorran and KDP) find a common ground and come to an agreement anytime soon.

Speaking of hate among the Kurdish politicians, recently I met with a Kurdish politician, while visiting the US, and he told me that there is so much disagreement between the KDP and all other parties, he is not sure how long they can keep this and when “trouble” will start again as it did in the 1990s when the KDP and the PUK fought a deadly battle that lasted for years.

He seemed very pessimistic and worried that indeed the day of conflict between these parties will be ignited once more. He was looking for support from the Americans and hoped that he can convince the Americans to step in and solve the problems that exists between the KDP and other parties in Kurdistan.

I am 100% convinced that because there is so much hate between all of these parties, one day this will blow up in our face and this will have an adverse affect on all Kurds. We do not have a nation/country to begin with and yet, there are more different parties and “leaders” and Kurdish citizens do not know who is telling the truth and who they should support.

When will all this nonsense end? When will the Kurds see the day where there they can all live in harmony and peace? In my personal opinion, I see lots of trouble a head and no agreement will be reached among the Kurdish politicians in Kurdistan any time soon simply because no party is willing to given it to the other parties demands and conditions. But, like it or not, the KDP/Barzani are here to stay and going no where anytime soon and other parties need to come to their senses and admit/see the reality!!
