President Barack Obama’s obscures Foreign Policy in Syria, if it is One?

Omar Sindi, Washington — Exclusive to iKurd.net

Anecdotally, the US president is the most powerful president in the world; same time he has to demonstrate the front line engagement leadership of multitude international issues: US foreign policy under the presidency of Obama Administration has been criticized as an ineffective, and enfeeble foreign policy by many of his rivals in the republican party, and within many of his close former associates, such as a former secretary of defense Leon Panetta who said to USA Today-Newspaper: “By not pressing Iraqi government to leave more U.S. troops in country he created vacuum in terms of the ability of that country to better protect itself, and it’s out of that vacuum that ISIS began to breed”- Obama‘s foreign policy considered a weak and ineffective: Chain’s Communist is bullying its Southeast neighbors, and Vladimir Putin-Russia has invaded parts of Ukraine through his proxies, and annexed Crimea region.

As “Arab Spring”-revolutionary wave spread through the countries of the Arab States and surroundings; people’s expectations were from the atmosphere of disrepair, and abandonment to the tangible positive outcome. But as peaceful resistance movements were sluggishly weaponized by both sides, but mainly instituted from pro-government militias, therefore Syria’s peaceful resistance movement against Bashar Assad’s government was no exception, so it was weaponized too. In 2012, it was called “Arab Winter”. As Syria‘s position started deteriorating further, the anti-Assad movement became larger, more aggressive militancy postures clashed with government troops, and the government apparatus got weaker, as the fight raged on, it became more bloodier. The employment of chemical weapons became more apparent in Syria, despite the Bashar Assad’s government denial. “UN confirms use of chemical weapons in Syria.”

President Obama: “We have been very clear to the Assad regime, but also to the other players on the ground that a red line for us is we started seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized. That would change my calculus. That would change my equation.”

Many ways President Barack Obama’s foreign policy resembles the Former President Jimmy Carter‘s foreign policy in the late 1970‘s. Such a prescient concise statement to come from the United States president on the chemical weapon issues on Syrian regime utilization against civilians. He should have acted on such warning which puts the credibility of US online. Back in the early 1980’s then US President Ronald Reagan warned the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries “OPEC” particularly Arabs member states that the hike of oil prices is damaging the US economy, not long after Reagan’s statement, Saudi Arabia boosted oil production, and the oil price drastically came down.

Alas, another sign of the ineffective policy that the US Vice President Joe Biden apologized to the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Emirati authorities for telling about their connectivity’s to Islamic terrorist ISIS/ISIL; well, no matter how many times the Vice President apologizes to those ratchet leaders, and no matter how many times they try to show they are exquisitely good guys in front of the eyes of civilized world: The Kurdish city of Kubani in Syria is an empirical emblem, bears the wetness and disapprove their denials, of villainous accomplices , where ISIS terrorist fighters taking time off from killing the innocent people of Kubani city, they then go rest by the fence across from the Turkish forces, while Turkish soldiers on the other side of the fence are looking at them absolutely doing no harm to those killers; while they are resting, then knowingly going back to committing more atrocities. Once President Obama said he has no policy in Syria, and later back tracked his statement said he has policy that will destroy ISIS, and same time topple the Bashar Assad’s regime.

It reminds me to compare an analogy of Obama’s strategy in Syria, for example, if, two persons co-partnering on a ricefield, and the ricefield is threatening with “invasive weed” and one of the partner says I have bunch of Roosters ready to save the ricefield now from the threat of invasive weed, and the other said one minute, I have bunch of Roosters too, better then what you have, but mine are not ready, I’m going to retrain them for about a year, then they will be able to save the ricefield from the invasive weed. US with their allies are planning to train Free Syrian Army – FSA in Saudi Arabia for one year, whilst Islamic States of Iraq/Syria ISIS nihilism terrorists are at the throat of Syrian society, committing more atrocities unabated. Meanwhile, on the other hand Kurdish people in Syria “Rojava” are fighting forces, and are with standing ISIS relentless pressure and has capability of fighting forces, but they need weapons and materials. United States, and along with their Western Allies ignoring their pleas because the hegemony of Middle Eastern state actors’ realpolitik. Meanwhile, as it stands, this envisioning policy that currently President Obama‘s Administration pursuing and embarking on in Syria, most likely will be doomed to fail because of its obscurity, and lack of front line leadership.
