TEL AVIV,— Israel’s military targeted Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani, the Israeli defense minister Israel Katz said in a statement for the media on Tuesday, adding that Larijani was killed.
Larijani was among those targeted in strikes carried out by the Israeli military across Iran on Monday night, the statement said.
The Israel Defense Forces also confirmed it had killed Gholamreza Soleimani, head of Iran’s Basij paramilitary force, along with his deputy, Seyyed Karishi.
Larijani’s death would make him the most senior Iranian official killed since Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei was killed during the first day of U.S.-Israeli airstrikes on February 28, 2026.
Later on Tuesday, Tehran officially acknowledged Larijani’s death.
