Qatar supports Erdogan with billions as Turkey prepares invasion of Syrian Kurdistan

The gas emirate is financing Islamist violence in the entire Middle East

The Society for Threatened Peoples (STP) fears that Turkey is planning another large-scale invasion into northern Syria. Since the Islamist emirate recently transferred billions of dollars to Turkey, this scenario has become more likely: “During the last few days, the Turkish ruler made it clear what he expects from the invasion. He is planning to drive out millions of people from northern Syria and to rid the region of the Kurds,” emphasized Dr. Kamal Sido, the STP’s Middle East Consultant. “Qatar is said to have provided Turkey with at least 10 billion US dollars – a sum that would allow the country to send a lot of Islamist fighters to war. Many of them are present in the region already, and they are terrorizing the local people by order of NATO member Turkey.”

Turkey has been attacking northern Syria with artillery and air strikes for several weeks now. In a TV interview, the Turkish president argued that the region of north-eastern Syria was “…not suitable for the Kurdish way of life, as it is a desert”. “The Turkish ruler seems to think that he can decide where and where not certain population groups should live. Of course, he did not mention that Kurdish people have been living in the region for centuries,” Sido explained.

“Now, Erdogan is trying to get support from wherever he can – from NATO and even from Russia. Apparently, he has already won over Qatar for his Islamist imperialist ambitions.” The small country of Qatar, which has just announced a huge gas deal with the Federal Republic of Germany, seems to have enough funds to provide support. “The host country of the World Cup is financing Sunni Islamists in the entire Middle East – and it has also been maintaining good relationships with Erdogan, who is a Sunni Islamist himself. He is under political pressure in his own country, and he fears that he might lose next year’s elections. The invasion is part of his electoral campaign. By carrying out an ethnic and religious ‘cleansing’, he can also cause a new wave of refugees with which he can blackmail Europe.”

Erdogan is to be seen as the political representative of a radical interpretation of Sunni Islam – similar to the Mullahs in Iran, which are controlling radical Shiite forces. “However, due to the contacts with NATO, the Sunnis – led by Turkey and Qatar and Turkey – have a better starting position. Without acquiescence by NATO, Russia, and Iran, Erdogan would not dare to start another invasion,” Sido stated. “However, as even the German Federal Government has expressed ‘understanding for Turkey’s security interests’, he should soon have enough support. As soon as this is the case, the next invasion will begin.”
