BRUSELSS,— At a summit in Brussels on Thursday, the European Union, along with Lithuania and Estonia, formalized security agreements with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
These agreements underline the EU’s commitment to supporting Ukraine across nine areas of security and defense, which include arms deliveries, military training, defense industry cooperation, and demining efforts, Reuters reported.
These pacts are designed to complement existing agreements between Ukraine and its allies, which have been established as Ukraine continues its defense against Russia’s invasion. Similar agreements have been signed with nations such as the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.
While officials emphasize that these agreements do not equate to NATO’s mutual defense pact, they represent significant pledges to provide Ukraine with weapons and other forms of aid. These commitments aim to strengthen Ukraine’s security and deter any potential future invasions.
